Adopting a fresh look, we proposed: to build a tunnel under the river instead of a road bridge (1), thus preserving the popular green space by the White Bridge; to extend the pedestrian bridge to the square (2); the idea of the House of the Nation on Tauras Hill was in the air at the time, and we thought it would be better to bring it down to the square (3), as the area is large enough; a monument in Lukiškių Square would make sense, as pedestrian flows are large there and access is easy (4); to develop a memorial site on Aukų street (5), near the Victims Memorial and the KGB Museum; to demolish the Trade Union Building on Tauras Hill and restore the hilltop, which was removed to construct it, turning the hill into a park with exquisite views (6). The square would become a busy functional area of the city (not a park), it would connect two green areas of Vilnius, and the Church of St James would become a dominant feature in it.
