A project with the motto "The Great Whistle" (Didysis švilpis) is being presented for the architectural competition. The name refers to a sculpture of the same title by the Palanga-born sculptor Antanas Mončys, while the building's artistic concept echoes the archaic quality and close connection to nature characteristic of his work.
The architecture here is based on a synthesis of volume and landscape. Rather than dominating its surroundings, the structure nestles into the terrain beneath an organic green roof, visually dissolving into the pine forest landscape. The heart of the composition is a circular inner courtyard-amphitheater. Resembling the hollow of an archaic whistle, it acts as a pulsating cultural epicenter where light, art, and the buzz of visitors resonate.
Transparent glass facades and exposed wooden structures blur the boundary between indoors and outdoors, allowing the park's greenery to naturally flow into the exhibition halls. "The Great Whistle" is not a monument, but a harmonious, living space that invites an open dialogue with art and the resort's natural environment. Competition, 3rd place.
